Lovemarks- the future beyond brands
This reading talks about lovemarks a type of company that goes beyond branding and tells us how they are better than brands and how lovemarks work.
Lovemarks transcend brands. They deliver beyond your expectations of great performance. Like great brands, they sit on top of high levels of respect - but there the similarities end
This is a confusing concept for me but love marks goes on to explain how they are different from brands and their key ingredients mystery, intimacy and sensuality. It is through these forms that they try to connect their audience with the “brand”
So I guess you could say that when designing and presenting our berrima solution we should make sure that we can connect our brand with the audience in these ways so that it can reflect the success of lovemarks

What exactly is a brand anyway?

This reading talks about the classification of a brand and the definition he uses to describe it.
“The term "brand" refers to searing the hide of one rancher's cattle with his distinctive mark so that it couldn't be confused with anyone else's.”
In saying this the identity is something that we must produce that instantly communicates the brand we are producing.
We are developing our brand in class and we need to undertake this message in branding and make our airports different and instantly recognisable from others.
The reading also goes on to make another good point; Branding is about getting your prospects to see you as the only solution to their problem.
And from this we are given pointers that we account for whilst designing Berrima international airport
• Delivers the message clearly
• Communicates quickly
• Projects credibility
• Strikes an emotional chord
• Motivates the respondent
• Creates a strong user loyalty

Metreon & Pittsburgh children museum

These two readings focus on two different project entailing much different design briefs and the proceeses that are undertaken before reaching a final solution.
The briefs ask specific requirements that must be met and the process talk through hoe these are developed and acquired.
These readings reflect the very project we are completing in class being Berrima international airport. We must produce a logotype, business card, letterhead and signage as part of our brief and must under take research and many processes in doing so. Our project reproduces the same process points that must be undertaken to reach a final solution.

http://enwikipedia.org/wiki/logotype
http://enwikipedia.org/wiki/corporate_identity

The above readings discuss the importance of an identity to a business and the important elements in producing a logo that shapes that identity. These elements, which we discussed in class, are the effectiveness, the uniqueness, the functional quality, and the maintenance of integrity, use of basic design principles, colour & representation

The way, which the logo is constructed in regards to the type, colour and graphic is discussed. In class we were shown how to make our type our own by modifying individual type. In class we also discussed how the graphic of the logo should not largely overweigh the company name as stated in the reading.

Sometimes a slogan is included in the logo as we discussed in class eg Woolworth’s the fresh food people and how these are used in the composition of the identity

The way in which we construct the logo should refect some visual identity no just appear as a form of decoration, when we explored different airports logos they all had some form of visual connection to airports/ flying. Eg the use of the circular orbits that may relate to flying
